Mascotte’s population has climbed every decade since the 1930s, reaching 6,609 at the 2020 Census, up from 5,101 in 2010. The city covers 18.05 square miles, nearly a third of it water, at an elevation of 92 feet. The town’s name traces back to the SS Mascotte, a ship that hauled tobacco from Cuba during the Spanish-American War for Tampa civic leader Henry B. Mascotte sits closer to the Green Swamp than any other town in our service area. The Green Swamp is the headwaters of four major Florida rivers, including the Withlacoochee and the Ocklawaha, and it is designated an Area of Critical State Concern for its role recharging the Floridan Aquifer. That proximity means more standing water and wetland-adjacent ground around Mascotte than in the hillier country closer to Clermont.

What Mascotte carts need

A wetter environment than the ridge towns. With roughly a third of the city’s area classified as water and the Green Swamp close by, garages and cart barns in Mascotte deal with more ambient humidity than carts up on the drier ridge around Clermont and Kings Ridge. That moisture oxidizes terminals and cable lugs over time, adding resistance that mimics a dying battery pack. A voltage-drop check along the main cables is part of every diagnostic for that reason.

Heat on the same regional schedule. NOAA’s Clermont-area station counts more than 110 days a year at 90°F or above, and Mascotte sees the same heat load. The rules

We could not find a City of Mascotte ordinance that designates any public street for golf cart use, so under F.S. 316.212 a standard cart legally stays on private property in Mascotte until the city designates one.
