Montverde counted just 1,655 residents at the 2020 Census across a town of only 1.9 square miles, incorporated on May 18, 1925. The name itself is a nod to the terrain: an early settler from Vermont arrived by boat on Lake Apopka and, taken with the rolling green hills he saw, named the settlement “Monte Verde,” Spanish for green mountain. The rules

We could not find a Town of Montverde ordinance designating any street for golf cart use, so under F.S. 316.212 a standard cart legally stays on private property in Montverde until the town designates a street. Clermont, a short drive south, has its own designated zone under City Code Sec. 32-105, but that applies inside Clermont’s city limits only.
